Driving Under Suspension

If you are caught driving under suspension you could be facing:

  • Up to 6 months in jail
  • Automatic 6 months drivers licence suspension and a reinstatement fee of $180
  • A fine of $1000 to $5000
  • 15 days to pay the fine
  • Possible increase of insurance premium

At Rybowski Legal we work tirelessly to save our clients tens of thousands of dollars in fines, while preserving their drivers licence.

Our first step in protecting your licence is to request disclosure to gather all relevant facts. Upon ensuring the correctness of the facts, we begin to advise our clients of how to best advance with their case.
Our second step in protecting your licence is to begin to analyse our options by negotiating with the prosecutor for the best possible result; pleading guilty to a charge, or go to trial.

We regularly go to court to negotiate with the prosecutor on your behalf, to review disclosure and save you time and money.

CVOR Points

(Commercial Vehicle Operators Registration)

As a commercial vehicle operator, when charged with a traffic offence in Ontario, you fall into a special category. This means without legal representation, you could be facing not only demerit points on your licence, but also CVOR points. If a commercial vehicle operator accumulates 6 or more CVOR points, finding employment will become hard if not impossible to attain.

Increased penalties to owners and operators with each conviction.

Rybowski Legal understands the complexity associated with CVOR points and will aptly represent our clients to work towards having the points of your charge reduced or eliminated. It is important that every driver or company that receives a charge does not simply plead guilty and pay the ticket or dispute the charge before investigating all options available to you.

Rybowski Legal appreciates the essential work of commercial vehicle operators; we offer discounts to our commercial transportation industry when fully retained and paid in advance for our dedicated legal service to you.

Racing/Stunt Driving

What is Stunt Driving/Racing?

This charge is not a simple speeding charge; the consequences of this charge greatly impact your driving record and could leave to the seizure of your driver’s licence. If you are caught driving travelling at a rate of speed greater than 50km per hour than the posted speed limit you can be charged with Stunt Driving / Racing (Section 172 of the Highway Traffic Act).

If you are charged with Racing/Stunt Driving, you could be facing:

• Up to 6 months in jail
• Suspension of your driver’s licence up to 2 years
• A fine of $2000 to $10 000
• 6 demerit points
• Possible increase of insurance premiums on or cancelation.

If an officer believes you are traveling at a rate of speed greater than 50km per hour than the posted speed limit, the officer can issue a road side vehicle seizure, leading to an automatic 7 day driver’s licence suspension and a 7 day vehicle impound. You will then be obligated to pay a licence reinstatement fee of $180 and the impounding/towing costs; these fees are non-refundable regardless of a not guilty verdict. Additionally, your driving record will register a licence suspension and the impoundment of your vehicle.

Rybowski Legal can help you reduce the charge and protect your licence. Before pleading guilty to a Stunt Driving/Racing charge, have Rybowski Legal request disclosure to represent you and work towards a lesser charge, saving you personal and financial cost.
